Introduction

Bingo Phonics cards have now been added.   They use the same words found in the corresponding Phonics Activities, but can be purchased and used separately. They can be used as a five minute whole class activity; as a reinforcement/reminder of the sounds being used.  When used with a small group of pupils, the picture cards provide a stimulus for language, comprehension and vocabulary enrichment.

  • 3 types of cards are included with each set.  
    • (a)  pictures and words
    • (b)  pictures only
    • (c)  words only
  • Each set of cards also has a call-out list showing the words, dictionary definitions and pictures used on the bingo phonics cards

  sh, ch, th, wh, ck, ng, qu phonics are mainly aimed at KS1 

  • set 1 booklets use, mainly, single syllable words
  • set 2 booklets use polysyllabic words. 

ae, ee, ie, oe, oo (as in igloo) and oo (as in good); er, aw, e, u, or, air and  oi, l, s, g, n phonics are mainly aimed at KS2

  • set 1 booklets use, mainly, single syllable words
  • set 2 booklets use polysyllabic words
  • set 3 booklets provide more challenging words and can be used to extend vocabulary 

 Other suggestions for use

  • Print onto card, cut out and laminate and mark with counters or whiteboard pens so as to be able to re-use the cards.
  • Use the picture cards and have the children spell the word on a whiteboard
  • Use the definitions on the calling sheet for children to match against the pictures and words, to help extend vocabulary.
  • Double up the cards and use for memory /matching games.
